The Queen mother was particularly impressed by centre's rapid progress and said the opening of the Amitofo Care Centre is a dream come true for her. She said as the patron of Philani Maswati, she was always concerned about the neglected children who were taken care of by the elderly who could hardly cope with the job. She said the opening of the centre would ease the pressure on the elderly though the issue of orphans would continue.

She said she was glad to see that ACC was fast movers such that the construction of the home was almost done despite that it was only started last year. “I am happy that it has taken shape. It shows that they are committed unlike some who promise to embark on a project but take forever to get it up and running,” she said.

She was hopeful that the centre would be taken care of and not vandalised. She passed her appreciation to the staff and teachers for their dedication.  “Raising a child is never easy even if she/he is yours. We hope they will be taught respect and they will not lose their Swazi origins and cultural roots,” she concluded.
