Venerable master Hui Li, founder of Amitofo Care Centre in Africa, was invited by FJNet to speak on the topic "How to learn Buddhism".

According to Master Hui Li, understanding Karma is an important step in practising one's mindfulness. When one achieves a certain level of self-realization, there are more than one approach to learn the philosophy of life which Buddhism promotes.

He also explained how the propagation of Buddhism has transformed from a traditional and conservative approach to one that is more humanistic. According to Buddhist history the idea of humanistic Buddhism was established long ago, but it was only realized in the past two decades when Buddhism was spread to Taiwan. However, Master Hui Li said that having a humanistic approach alone is not adequate in effectively spreading Buddhism. but it also needs to be blended with the philosophy of life as a whole in order to help people in dealing with much defilement they face in their lives.
